Are You Struggling With Changes in Memory or Thinking?

You may be experiencing changes that are affecting your daily life in ways that are difficult to understand or adjust to:

  • You may be forgetting things more often. You might repeat questions, lose track of conversations, or have difficulty remembering information that once came easily.

  • Finding the right words may feel frustrating. You may know what you want to say but have trouble getting the words out.

  • Everyday tasks may feel more difficult. Things that once felt routine may take more effort, or you may find yourself needing help with things you used to do independently.

  • You may feel worried or frustrated by these changes. Changes in memory, thinking, or independence can bring anxiety, sadness, embarrassment, or uncertainty about the future.

  • You may feel misunderstood. It can be difficult when others focus on what you are forgetting rather than recognizing the person you are and the things that still matter to you.

  • You may be grieving changes in your life. Adjusting to changes in independence, routines, relationships, or abilities can bring a sense of loss, even while you are learning to adapt.

Therapy can support you with:

  • Processing difficult emotions such as frustration, anxiety, sadness, grief, embarrassment, and uncertainty.

  • Finding ways to maintain independence and make daily activities more manageable.

  • Strengthening communication so you can express your needs, preferences, and emotions.

  • Building on your strengths and abilities rather than focusing only on areas of difficulty.

  • Maintaining meaningful routines and activities that support connection, purpose, and enjoyment.

A Person-Centered Approach to Therapy for Dementia & Cognitive Decline in Boca Raton, FL

Living with dementia does not change who you are. You still have your own story and things that matter to you. Our work starts with where you are right now. We can talk about the changes you’re experiencing, what has become more difficult, and what you would like help with. We can also look for practical ways to make everyday life feel more manageable while continuing to do the things that are meaningful to you.

In therapy, you can expect:

  • To be heard and taken seriously, without judgment

  • To have a say in what we work on and how we approach it

  • Practical strategies that fit your everyday life

  • Support for the things that feel difficult or frustrating

  • A focus on what you can still do and enjoy, not just what has changed

  • Space to talk about the emotional side of dementia and how it is affecting your life

Meet Your Therapist for Dementia & Cognitive Decline in Boca Raton, FL

Hi, I’m Dr. Amanda! I’m a Doctor of Social Work and Licensed Clinical Social Worker with several years of experience supporting individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, and cognitive decline.

Changes in memory and thinking can bring frustration and uncertainty. You may be adjusting to changes in your independence while trying to make sense of what is happening. I provide both emotional and practical support to help you adjust to these changes, develop coping strategies, use compensatory strategies for everyday challenges, and stay connected to the people and activities that matter most to you.

My commitment to dementia support extends beyond my therapy practice. I volunteer with the Alzheimer’s Association and remain actively involved in their community efforts, including serving as a chair for community events. This work allows me to stay actively involved in supporting adults living with dementia and their caregivers while contributing to the ongoing effort to raise awareness and work toward a future without Alzheimer’s disease.

My goal is to see the person beyond the diagnosis and support you in maintaining dignity, connection, independence, and quality of life as things change.
